On Wednesday 3 May, The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre and Meli (the new name for Bethany and BCYF), in partnership with Safe Steps, The City of Greater Geelong and Deakin University, are asking our community to shine a light to honour and remember the women and children who have lost their lives as a direct result of family violence.
Buildings and landmarks across Geelong will be illuminated in a purple hue to remember those we have lost and also hold those currently living with violence in our thoughts and remind them that they aren’t alone and that we won’t tolerate family violence in our community.
Light a candle on Wednesday evening and take the opportunity to have a conversation with your loved ones about respectful relationships. Share a picture of your candle with the hashtag #LightACandle2023 and tag @safestepsfv, @thesafvcentre, and @meli.community
