Children and Young People

Sometimes it can be scary and overwhelming when you are coming in to see us. We have some characters for you to watch to help you feel safe and less worried when you are getting support from us.

What is Family Violence

You may have been through, seen or heard violence in your home. This is called family violence and it is never your fault and it is not OK. Our “What is Family Violence?” animation will help you to understand what has been happening and how you can get help from us.

Welcome to Counselling

You might have been through some hard things and  feel worried or scared, have trouble sleeping or you could be struggling to connect with friends. We are here to listen and support you.
There are people who work here, called counsellors, who can help you understand what has happened to you and make you feel happier, more confident, secure and safe.

What is Case Management

Our “What is Case Management” animation shows you what will happen when you come into to see us when you have been through family violence. Our centre is a safe and welcoming space where we have staff called case managers who will help you and the safe people in your family get the right support .

We thank the Aim for Change Foundation for funding the production of these animations and our child friendly resources.

The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of the land we stand on. We are committed to working toward creating a community where all people indigenous and non-indigenous are safe, connected and empowered to live well. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre recognises the diverse needs of our community and we ensure our services are inclusive of all children, young people and their families including those who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, those who identify as LGBTIQ and persons living with disability. We work collaboratively with people and partner organisations who also support our diverse client group. Interpreter and translator services are available to all our clients upon request.
