The SAFV Centre announces Interim CEO

The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Board is pleased to announce that Carmel Thomas has been promoted to Interim CEO of The SAFV Centre, while the Board embark on a rigorous recruitment process to appoint a new CEO.

Carmel has been with The SAFV Centre for more than eight years and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team since 2021 as Executive Manager Client Services. Carmel brings a wealth of leadership with more than 25 years’ experience working in the community sector across a broad range of practice working with sexual and family violence and trauma.

Carmel has a passion for addressing violence against women and children, and ensuring the clients who seek our support are provided with the best service possible.

Carmel will commence transitioning into the CEO role over the coming weeks before Helen departs to take on the CEO position at Respect Victoria.

We are delighted that Carmel has been appointed to this role. As a respected, committed and admired leader, Carmel will provide wonderful leadership and stability while maintaining our momentum during this transitional phase.

The SAFV Centre Board have commenced the recruitment process for the CEO role and the position will be advertised over the coming weeks.

The SAFV Centre is a strong and sustainable organisation and we look forward to welcoming a new CEO in the coming months.
