Groups

We offer a range of group to provide you with support and to learn, grow and connect with others:

Trauma-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TACT)

TACT is for women over the age of 18 years who have been impacted by sexual assault and/or family violence, and is designed to:

  • support you to develop a greater understanding of trauma
  • increase your emotional awareness; and
  • develop the use of practical tools to manage emotional regulation in your day-to-day living.

Participants have said that the program has assisted them to:

  • Increase their levels of mindfulness and self-awareness.
  • Develop an improved understanding of the impact of trauma
  • Develop strategies to effectively manage their symptoms.

The TACT program is being offered in Geelong.

Connect

As a mother, if you and your child/ren (or children in your care) have been affected by family violence, then you are able to join the Connect group.

This program focuses on strengthening the mother-child relationship after family violence. It offers a space for children to name their feelings, express themselves and share their experiences and perspectives with you.

It supports you to understand the impact of the trauma of violence on yourself and your children and enhances your ability to ‘tune into’ your children and respond in meaningful ways.

Children and Mothers in Mind (CMiM)

The CMiM program is available for women and their children who are aged 4 years and under who have been impacted by family violence.

It seeks to support the attachment between you and your child and empower you in your confidence and competence as a parent following family violence.

Body and Mind

The ‘Body and Mind’ program will assist you with self-awareness, understanding of trauma and calming the body and mind.

This program offers eight sessions designed for women and men who have experienced sexual assault and women who have experienced family violence. These sessions offer strategies that will assist with day to day living.
