Family Violence and Sexual Assault – Understanding and Responding

Introductory Level

This module is an entry-level training designed for anyone interested in building an understanding of family violence and sexual assault.

Co-facilitated by an experienced therapeutic practitioner and training specialists, you will be supported to develop skills and confidence in effectively identifying and appropriately responding to disclosures of family violence and sexual assault.

As a result of this training, you will be able to:

  • Define family violence and sexual assault
  • Understand affirmative consent in line with Victorian Legislation
  • Identify the gendered drivers of violence against women
  • Describe intersectionality and how it impacts experiences of family violence
  • Understand the prevalence of family violence and sexual assault
  • Recognise your role as an active bystander
  • Respond to disclosures safely and appropriately
  • Identify support pathways to specialist services

 

Duration: 3 hours
Location: Online or face to face

 

Please note that Victorian Legislation informs the content of this training and that while all participants are welcome, this session has been specifically developed to support those living and working in the Barwon Region of Victoria.
